Theoretically, it is possible by having the glasses operated by the PS3 system itself, BUT a problem is that different TV's have different display latencies. You would have to have a way to calibrate the PS3 to the individual TV's latency, which would require additional hardware, or manual calibration that would have to be done regularly to fix "drifting." Either way is not very user friendly (especially to the average TV owner) in addition to taking sales away from the actual 3DT...
Every time you release an expansion I feel like i'm missing out on something. The multiplayer was a lot of fun, but i don't get much opportunity to play online, so it's not worth paying for these.
It's for automatically centering you in the image. Imagine if you're not quite centered and you have to walk up to the unit, adjust it, move back, see that you aren't quite there yet, repeat... Since Natal can know where you are, it can automatically do that for you. Especially if some games will allow you to be sitting and some need you to be standing. Bishop-br is probably right, too. It could probably be pretty cheap.
These glasses are the polarized type. 3D TV's use "alternate frame sequencing" with the active shutter LCD glasses. These would be great for gaming if your playing on a projector in a movie theater, but they won't do diddly squat in your living room.
I was thinking about getting this or Braid, then Braid went half price, then Trine went half price. neener neener neeeeenner.
Ah, thank you for clarifying. I was wondering why people claimed it was sub HD. Turns out I wasn't looking at all the info.
I have a friend who has a shirt that says that: "Han shot first." That change is one thing I refuse to accept, along with midichloreans.
I seem to be one of the few who actually likes ALL Star Wars movies and The Clone Wars series. I grew up with the original movies (A New Hope was the first movie my parents brought me to when I was 3. Yeah, I'm old), so I love them, but I also like the new ones. Better action and special effects, but the main thing I like about them is they are a good look at how a good person can turn to evil.
Edit @ below: Well, there's more to it than that, but i will agree that it could h...
George Lucas founded and owns THX. I have no doubt these will be top quality.
Given how long it took for these movies to come to DVD, i am a bit surprised by this, but am REALLY looking forward to it. I, too, would like both versions, but even more than the original version, I would like to have the original theatrical version with remastered 5.1 sound.
Ooh, how bit this as a special feature: PiP showing footage before special effects were added. That could be in...
Somebody gave me a disagree with that last comment.
Thanks. I usually expect to get disagrees when i try to look at something fairly.
According to information I've seen, MGS4 actually ran at something like 764p. I do agree with you though, development is a game of compromises with limited resources. A developer makes choices that they deem best for their game. Alan Wake may have lower resolution, but seems to have good draw distance and amazing lighting, making for some really good vista shots. Part of the atmosphere of the game.
Alan Wake looks really good. Not Uncharted 2 or God of War III good, but it looks really good nonetheless. Maybe the geometry is lower resolution, but the lighting is really well done, the art direction looks amazing, and though it may sound trivial, the trees look to be the best I've ever seen, which becomes important when there's so many of them. The story sounds interesting and the gameplay looks good. We can argue all day about what tricks the developer used, but at the end of the da...
It can then just read your arm and head movements. That would be very useful in hardcore games, though I think it will be best used for smaller things within games like menu navigation and mini-games.
I can see the difference. Upconverting basically just makes it look not as bad.
I think you're right, though. The 3D done in software will be just okay compared to true 3D.
@ ipwnall: The 3DS is going to be true 3D if the rumors are true. it's just that the 3D will be at half the resolution (per eye) and you have to be straight in front of the screen.
@ evrfighter: The catch is that the TV "fakes" 3D with software. It basically has to guess at what the two images should look like. I don't know how well it works, but I imagine that at best it ends up looking like cardboard cutouts moving in 3D space. Or it might end up looking pretty ...
All that's been said is that Ghost Recon will use Natal, the rest is speculation. What you said is probably true, but it's not confirmed.
That was such a good story and some of the most interesting characters I've ever seen in a video game. I loved the parallel between Nariko's and Roach's relationships with their fathers. I hope that somehow a sequel happens.
One thing I have been thinking of is the fact that game reviewers tend to not have a very "critical eye." By that I mean that they just look at graphics, features, and how fun a game is.
That may be enough, but then I think of the fact that probably every university has some kind of "Film Appreciation" class. In these classes students are taught to look at WHY a film is good. What elements work, what themes does the film address, how does story structure wo...
Nolan North is, unless i'm mistaken, the first actor to become a celebrity in video games (though he's not a main-stream celebrity). There are bigger celebrities who do video game work, but he's the only video game actor that we recognize because of his video game roles.
